Fumed silica, organoclay (bentonite) , MIOX, MICA, kaolin, talc
PERMAKEM AS offers different types of fumed silicas, both hydrophilic and hydrophobic variants. Fumed silica is a powder with extremely low bulk density and high surface area. With it's three-dimensional structure it acts as rheology modifier, thickening agent, free-flow agent, viscosity modifier, anti-settling agent, and anti-corrosive agent.
PERMAKEM AS offers organoclay (bentonite), used as rheology agent for paints, varnish and mortars. PERMAKEM AS offers organoclay for both solvent- and water-based systems. In solvent-based systems it works as a thixotropic agent and thickener in paints, inks and adhesives. It also works good in powder coatings. In water-based systems such as cement-based tile adhesives, plasters and tile grouts the products can create special properties and improves workability, anti-sagging and anti-settling properties.
PERMAKEM AS offers micaceous iron oxide (MIOX). This is a functional filler that provides exceptional durability and wear resistance. This type of MIOX has a lamellar structure and forms a barrier against moisture and improves the resistance to degradation of the substrate that can occur with exposure to UV light. The product also protects against rust formation and is often used in protective coatings.
PERMAKEM AS offers different types of MICA, thin lamina sheets of the minerals muscovite and phlogopite. MICA offers elastic, fireproofing and insulating properties, and works to some extent as a lubricant. Muscovite is pearlescent, which means it can add shine to certain paints, ceramic glazes and even cosmetics. Muscovite is also commonly used as a filler and an extender in paints and surface treatments.
PERMAKEM AS offers kaolin for the paper, adhesive, paint, ceramic, rubber, and printing ink industry. Koalin offers optical properties and is an extender for titanium dioxide (TiO2) and other silicates. Kaolin also gives high bonding strength, good coverage and high gloss.
PERMAKEM AS offers lamellar platy structured talc. The lamellar talcs are a natural inorganic product for high performance applications. The platystructured talc is inert, hydrophobic, and work as a mineral extender with goodbarrier properties.
PERMAKEM AS offers wollastonite. Wollastonite has a wide range of uses including plastics, paints and coatings, and in ceramic and friction materials. It works as a functional filler with high technical quality. It improves the mechanical properties, wear resistance, corrosion resistance, strengthens the film, reduces cracking, and offers heat resistance.
PERMAKEM AS offers pozzolan. Pozzolan is a substance which, when reacted with lime hydrate and water, forms a product similar to the reaction between portland cement and water. Pozzolan can be used as an additive or as a replacement for part of portland cement. PERMAKEM AS also offers calcined kaolin that reacts with free portlandite to form additional CSH phases (calcium-silicate-hydrate; cement binder) which makes the cement matrix denser. In addition, it gives unique properties, such as chlorine resistance. PERMAKEM AS can also offer fly ash with very fine particle sizes (10µ or 20µ). The fineness of the spherical particle guarantees a higher pozzolanic reactivity and improves the rheology of mortars and concrete.
